I woke up this morning with a feeling of unprecedented excitement. As I racked my brain on what to do, the Bible passage, "But with God all things are possible" floated in my mind. "That means I don't have any limitation except the one I create in my mind," I assured myself.
The reality of life is that there are no real limits on what we can accomplish with our lives. Within reason, whatever someone else has done, you can do as well. The very fact that you can set a clear goal for yourself means that you probably have the ability to achieve it. God does not give you a burning desire for something without also equipping you with the talents and abilities you need to acquire it.
If you think about your past, you will recall that almost everything that you ever really wanted long enough and hard enough you finally achieved. You are not created by God to be hopeless or helpless. Your true potential is limited only by your own imagination and level of determination.
The two factors that contribute most to our feeling of helplessness and hopelessness are fear and ignorance. Fear is and always has been man's greatest enemy. Fear and self-doubt do more to hold people back from dreaming big dreams, and accomplishing great things, than any other factors.
One observation I have made in my quest for excellence is that the less one knows about a subject, the more fearful he or she tries something new or different in that area. Your ignorance makes you reluctant to reach out for something better than what you are doing today. Fear and ignorance reinforce each other, growing until they induce in you a form of mental paralysis that leads inevitably to underachievement and failure.
Here is my candid advice: learn something new about your field or career on a daily basis. This will boost your confidence and diminishes your fear in that area. As your knowledge or skill increases, you soon reach the point where you are ready to take action and make changes. The basic truth is this: there's no limitation except the one you build in your mind.
This is your day: God is ready to partner with you to enlarge your coast. Don't disappoint Him.
