A formal business plan is an important document for any business. Entrepreneurs just starting out may find putting their thoughts, goals and in some cases dreams to paper an intimidating process. Nevertheless, it is vital to the success of your business.
A business plan details every aspect of business operations. Writing a business plan need not be an overwhelming task if you have a mentor as a guide. If you ask the right questions to the right persons, you can always have the right answers to solve your problems.
I was a certified mentor to the YouWin programme, initiated by the Goodluck Jonathan's regime. During my assessments of some of the applicants, I discovered they hired mercenaries to write their business plans. The downside was they couldn't defend what they boasted to have written when the chips were down.
A young man called me four days ago, requesting to meet with me. During our meeting, he explained how he started a fish farm that is a thriving success. However, he wanted me to write a business plan to enable him secure a loan. So I asked him why he didn't write a business plan before he started the fish farm? He couldn't come up with a tangible excuse.
Many of us are like that young man. We start the journey before we get a blueprint for the journey. Starting a business before writing a business plan leads to disaster. In fact, it is the major reason why businesses fail. You can't afford to throw your hard earned money into a business you know little or nothing about.
In School of Professional Mentoring & Capacity building(SPMCB) we don't write business plans for our mentees and clients. We rather use our template to guide them write their own business plans. This makes it easy for them to run their businesses from within rather than following a plan that was written by a mercenary.
Being in business is no longer an option in this period of global recession. Why don't you talk to us and get a proper guide to enable you run your business successfully?
To your ultimate success,
The Mentoring & Capacity Building Team
